A North Carolina homeowner recently used his firearm to stop a pair of home intruders in their tracks.

According to local media reports, the Samson County resident said two men broke into his home early May 20—one of them armed with a machete. The homeowner retrieved his gun and shot the man wielding the machete, causing both intruders to flee the scene.

Police later caught the duo. One of the men was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and conspiracy to break and enter. The intruder with the gunshot wound, who was taken to the hospital for treatment and then transferred to Wake Medical Center, will also be charged with breaking and entering and conspiracy to break and enter.
