A little before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, a woman in Norwalk, Calif., was awakened by noises coming from the front of her house. Outside, a knife-wielding suspect was moving to the rear of house—and he ultimately broke in through a set of French doors. Inside were the woman, her husband and their five children.

The husband was armed and shot at the intruder, who fled the scene. He was taken into custody about a block away and transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. None of the family members were injured and no charges are pending against the homeowner, who told a local news station that he thinks the suspect is the same person who broke into their home a few years ago.
