If two people in ski masks were standing outside your car at 3 a.m. and pointing guns at you, what would you do? If you’re Joshua Hamadi, you’d start firing.
Today’s armed citizen was working his night job in DeKalb County, Ga., where his task to find semi-trucks illegally parked on private property often takes him to isolated areas. The 25-year-old was processing a truck he’d just booted when the trouble appeared. Luckily, he was prepared.
“My first reaction is, my life or theirs,” said Hamadi. “I pulled the gun and started shooting.” He struck one of the attackers while the other assailant and a third suspect fled in their stolen car.
The assailant he shot was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition. The other two remain at large. Hamadi, who likely saved his own life as well as that of the trucker, will not face charges.
