The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) withdrew its recently published proposal for “Objective Factors for Classifying Weapons with ‘Stabilizing Braces’” guidance.

“Upon further consultation with the Department of Justice and the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, ATF is withdrawing, pending further Department of Justice review, the notice and request for comments entitled ‘Objective Factors for Classifying Weapons with ‘Stabilizing Braces,’ that was published on December 18, 2020,” said the ATF.

The withdrawal notice came hours after Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) and 89 other Congressional representatives sent a letter to the ATF, in which the legislators called the ATF’s proposal “alarming” and said it “jeopardizes law-abiding gun owners across the country.” The letter concluded by asking the ATF to “immediately take action to correct this injustice.”

As the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) reported, the proposed “guidance” continued the ATF’s “pattern of making bureaucratic changes that put law-abiding Americans at risk of prosecution for a federal felony. These actions are completely incompatible with due process of law and our right to keep and bear arms.”

The proposed guidance “did nothing to fix ATF’s history of confusing and conflicting determinations on pistol braces,” said NRA-ILA.

America’s 1st Freedom recently reported that the ATF’s shift was on the back of a potential incoming Joe Biden presidency. Already, Biden and Kamala Harris, with the financial backing of vehemently anti-gun special interests groups, are champing at the bit to propose their anti-gun agendas.

That’s why the two remaining Georgia races are of the utmost importance to proponents of the Second Amendment. Both Sens.
Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue are needed to help weather the oncoming storm of attacks against your rights.
