British Press Notes Shift In African-American Views On Guns

posted on July 16, 2015

The British press generally confines itself to one screed after another when discussing Second Amendment issues “across the pond” in America, so we were interested to come across a Reuters nugget in The Daily Mail.

Headlined “African Americans Still Favor Gun Control, But Views Are Shifting,” the story made some thoroughly constructive references. One featured our own Colion Noir: “The image of black gun ownership has been hijacked and vilified by an anti-gun mainstream media.” No kidding and, as usual, well said, though it seems virtually all gun ownership is still being painted with this same broad and patently untrue brush.

More interesting still is the story’s citing of a December Pew poll that showed a 14 percent drop in African-American support for gun control since 1993. Now that’s progress.
