Demanding Moms Target Texas Carry

posted on May 3, 2017

Despite the fact that there has been no increase in violence in any of the 13 states that have done away with the requirement that law-abiding citizens obtain a government-issued permit in order to carry a firearm for self-defense, Bloomberg’s Demanding Moms are fighting against “permitless” carry in Texas.

“If passed and signed into law, these measures would only make it easier for violent criminals to carry hidden, loaded handguns into public spaces we frequent daily with our families,” Demanding Mom Lisa Epstein said in a released statement.

What Epstein and others don’t seem to understand—despite the fact that the truth is alluded to in her own statement—is that criminals already carry loaded handguns into “public spaces we frequent daily with our families.” They break the law: That’s why they are called criminals. This legislation doesn’t make that any “easier.”

About a million Texans are already licensed to carry loaded handguns in public, with no ill effect. The measures hated by the Demanding Moms simply deregulate the practice of a constitutionally protected right.
