Competitive shooter Doug Koenig was asked: How were you introduced to shooting?

“I began shooting handguns when I was 17. My Dad and I visited a local gun shop, Behlert Custom, to purchase and order a handgun together. The owners of the shop were competitive shooters and custom gun makers; always customizing their personal handguns for local and national competitions. Every day after school, I’d stop by the shop to see if our handgun had arrived. When I went to the store to pick it up, I was invited by Frank Behlert, the owner, to come shoot a local handgun match that weekend with him. It was a snowy, cold 18-degree day in February of 1986 at a club in Ledgewood, N.J. After that first match, I was hooked.”

Doug Koenig, regarded as a once in a generation talent, redefines what it takes to be a World Champion Professional Shooter. In 1990, Doug turned pro and he scored an unprecedented 1920x at the NRA’s Bianchi Cup. His list of accomplishments and championship wins includes more than 70 national and 10 world titles.
