Good Samaritan Helps Detain Robbery Suspect In Alaska

posted on January 21, 2016

When employees of a mall clothing store in Anchorage, Alaska, noticed that a customer seemed to be concealing stolen goods in a bag, they alerted mall security. A guard confronted the suspect on his way out of the store, leading to a struggle in which the suspect drew a firearm. Fortunately, an armed bystander happened to be on the scene.

Police spokeswoman Anita Shell wrote in a statement reported in the Alaska Dispatch News that “… a good Samaritan, also armed with a gun, stepped in and assisted security in taking the man into custody.” The suspect was charged with robbery, theft and multiple counts of assault.
