Just when you thought it couldn’t get more insane, Google has announced an updated AdWords policy that will eliminate the use of a slew of gun-related terms.
Seemingly innocent words—like scopes, sights, stocks, tripods—will no longer be accepted in Google’s advertising realm. Now, that doesn’t mean that if you go to Google and search for content related to the word “stock” that it won’t show up. What it does mean is that if a company wants to advertise its latest stock, it won’t be able to use that word in the ad.
So much for the First Amendment when it comes to anything related to the Second.
