Half Of Americans Are Concerned Government Will Go Too Far On Gun Control

posted on June 28, 2016

Half of American voters are concerned about government overreach when it comes to our guns. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll conducted after the Orlando terror attack quizzed 1,000 registered voters about gun control.

When asked what concerns them more about government and guns, 50 percent said that the government will go too far in restricting guns. Questioned about the merits of an “assault weapons” ban, 49 percent said that it is “NOT worth it because it will not stop the attackers from getting the weapons they need.”

The government distrust is unsurprising as we’ve watched President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats rush in—before facts were even known—and call for bans and restrictions. Once facts were known, the president refused to accept it as a terror act and still called for strict regulations. Seems the real surprise is that only 50 percent of voters doubt the government on this issue.
