Hillary Clinton Snubs Nation's Largest Police Union

posted on August 10, 2016

On the day of the deadline, Hillary Clinton has declined to return a Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) questionnaire required of all candidates seeking the organization’s endorsement.

“To be honest with you, I was disappointed and shocked,” Chuck Canterbury, president of the National Fraternal Order of Police, told The Hill. “You would think with law enforcement issues so much in the news that even if she had disagreements with our positions, that she would’ve been willing to say that.”

A Clinton campaign spokesman issued a statement, saying, “She believes that we must work together to build on what’s working and to build the bonds of trust between police and the communities they serve—because we are stronger together.”

Asked why the Clinton campaign refused to return the questionnaire, FOP executive director Jim Pasco said, “I don’t know. She’s not talking to us.” Donald Trump, whose campaign did fill out the lengthy FOP questionnaire, met with the union on Friday.
