Idaho To Consider “Permitless” Carry Bill

posted on January 14, 2016

With West Virginia and Louisiana already examining bills to deregulate concealed carry this session, Idaho has now joined the trend. Two Republican state legislators, Rep. Heather Scott and Rep. Ronald Nate, wrote the bill to end permit requirements for gun owners who are not legally prohibited from having a firearm. The authors worked with numerous outside parties to ensure a cleanly written piece of legislation that would garner widespread support.

According to the Clearwater Tribune, that attention to detail appears to be paying off already. The Idaho Sheriffs’ Association confirmed that it is satisfied with the language of the bill and confident that it will not put guns into the hands of dangerous people. So far eight states recognize a similar form of “permitless” carry.
