Memphis Man Fights Off Trio Of Armed Robbers

posted on March 11, 2016

When two men sitting in a car outside a house in Memphis were accosted by three armed men who tried to rob them at gunpoint, one of the car’s occupants fought off the robbers with his handgun.

“Shots were fired in the car,” said Major Rodney Adair of the Memphis Police Department, hitting the male victim in the side. The victim was able to return fire in self-defense, hitting one of the robbery suspects in the chest.

The three suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored car. “The victims were pretty much scrambling for their lives, so they didn’t get a good look at them,” Adair said. Following the shooting, the two accomplices drove the injured suspect to his mother’s home. He was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries. The victim inside the car is expected to recover from his injuries, and the two other suspects remain at large.
