More School Districts Across The U.S. Are Arming Teachers

posted on April 16, 2016

Across the country, more and more school districts are realizing that NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre was ultimately right: The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. LaPierre was vilified when he first suggested that the only way to protect our schoolchildren was by armed force. But today, that’s exactly what is happening.

The latest school district to come onboard is, surprisingly, out of California. Kingsburg Joint Union High School District passed a measure unanimously approving a policy that allows employees to carry concealed firearms on school grounds. Another Golden State district has had a similar policy in place since 2010.

States including Indiana, Oklahoma, Ohio, Texas and Utah have also either passed or are considering measures to arm school personnel. “I think every teacher should carry,” says Kasey Hansen, a Utah teacher who carries daily. “We are the first line of defense.”
