Murphy Heads Effort to Raise Cash For Pro-Gun Control Candidates

posted on July 16, 2016

Sen. Chris Murphy’s (D-Conn.) latest push for gun control comes in the form of a fundraising initiative called the “Fund to End Gun Violence.” Designed to raise money for anti-gun congressional candidates, Democrats plan to use three key criteria in determining who to endorse:

  1. Candidates must support so-called “universal background checks”;
  2. Candidates must support the “no fly, no buy” measure, which squashes due process of law; and
  3. Candidates must support ending a ban on gun research, which doesn’t even exist.

The group, which includes longtime Democratic gun-control champions Sens. Chuck Schumer and Cory Booker, Rep. Katherine Clark and Rep. Robin Kelly, will likely focus on critical Senate races in New Hampshire and Nevada.
