N.C. Burglars Attempt Gun Store Robbery—With Predictable Results

posted on August 4, 2016

If you’re going to attempt a robbery in broad daylight, a gun store seems an inauspicious choice. But on Tuesday, two Wake County, N.C., robbers were brazen enough to give it a try.

An employee and a customer were inside Jim’s Gun Shop at around 4:30 p.m. when they looked out a window and saw two masked men approaching the front door. The employee raced to the entrance and attempted to shut and lock it, but the suspects got there first and pushed on the door until they broke in. Noticing the two intruders were armed, the employee retrieved his own gun and fired once at the suspects, scaring them out of the store.

The employee told authorities he was unsure whether he had hit either suspect, but both were able to make it to a green car parked nearby and fled before police arrived. Neither the employee nor the customer were hurt, but the suspects remain at large and authorities consider them armed and dangerous.
