Appearing on CBS “60 Minutes” Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump reiterated his strong support for the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

When CBS’s Leslie Stahl asked Trump about Supreme Court nominations—since one of his first orders of business as president will be to nominate a justice to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia—Trump replied that his nominee is “going to be very pro-Second Amendment” since, as he said, “everybody’s talking about the Second Amendment and they’re trying to dice it up and change it.”

Indeed, as Breitbart reports, in April 2015 Trump said, “If the Second Amendment weren’t there to protect our rights and someone tampered with them, the good people would be affected, but the bad people wouldn’t care—they couldn’t care less. It is absolutely imperative that we maintain the Second Amendment in its strongest form.” Encouraging words, indeed.
