Pastor Shoots Intruder At Church

posted on July 29, 2015

A pistol-packing Texas pastor has once again intervened in a criminal act, shooting a burglar inside his church early Tuesday morning. According to police, Pastor Benny Holmes was asleep in his church office around 6 a.m. when he heard an intruder bust down a door.

Holmes grabbed his 9 mm pistol and confronted the man, shooting him in the shoulder. Described by police as a transient with an extensive criminal record, the suspect, Marvin Lee Blue, 27, is expected to survive.

This is the second time in less than a year that Pastor Holmes’ proactive defense of his home and property has made national headlines. Last fall he held a woman stealing packages from his front porch at gunpoint until police arrived, and he reportedly preached a sermon telling congregants that God wants them to arm themselves following this incident.
