Polls Show Americans Distrust Clinton

posted on July 19, 2016

Recent polls by the Washington Post/ABC News and CBS/New York Times suggest that Americans widely distrust Hillary Clinton.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll, conducted July 6-7, asked, “Do you approve or disapprove of [FBI Director James] Comey's recommendation that Clinton should NOT be charged with a crime?” for her mishandling of classified email, and found that 56 percent disapproved and only 35 percent approved of that recommendation.

The CBS/New York Times poll, conducted July 8-12, asked respondents, “Do you think Hillary Clinton is honest and trustworthy, or not?” and found that 67 percent of respondents—including 74 percent of independents—considered Clinton untrustworthy.
