This deluxe four-barreled Abbiatico & Salvinelli .410 shotgun is one of the more unusual smoothbores represented in the Robert E. Petersen Gallery. Petersen’s collecting interests ran to finely engraved arms, and this A&S shotgun was embellished by Goldani and features a golden crest inlaid into the receiver. While the two upper barrels are fired by external hammers, the other two are fired by internal hammers—all activated by a single trigger. This Anson & Deeley boxlock is also fitted with sideplates.
The NRA National Firearms Museum at NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, Va.; the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Mo.; and the Frank Brownell Museum of the Southwest at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, N.M., all have fine selections of historic arms on display. Admission to each is free, and donations are gratefully accepted. For more information, visit nramuseums.com, phone (703) 267-1600 or email [email protected].
