Sen. Murphy Repeats Lie Of Falling Gun Ownership

During an anti-gun rant to the National Press Club on Thursday, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., repeated the new favorite lie of gun-ban Democrats and the so-called “mainstream” media—gun ownership is dropping like a rock.

“The number of (gun) buyers has shrunk, so the simple solution, the industry realized, is to just sell more weapons to this smaller-sized market,” Murphy said.

In truth, and we explain it here, the report that gun ownership is dwindling is nothing more than a media myth, as more and more first-time gun buyers visit shooting ranges throughout the country each day to learn about shooting and gun ownership.

In fact, a brand new Pew Research Center poll found that 31 percent of those surveyed said they owned a gun—the highest number in the history of the poll. And that figure is likely low, since many gun owners prefer not to discuss their firearms with strangers over the telephone.
