Sheriff Forced To Disarm To Enter Spokane Arena

posted on February 14, 2017

In an excellent example of just how far West Coast anti-gun sentiment has run amok, the Spokane County sheriff was denied entry into the Spokane Arena for a law enforcement charity event because he had his service weapon on him.

Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich told the Spokesman-Review: “They disarmed me at the door and I’m on duty. I had to go put my gun in the car. It was just a new level of insanity. On-duty police officers do not get disarmed.”

While the spokesman for the arena wondered aloud to reporters how employees are supposed to know whether a law enforcement officer is on duty or not (couldn’t they just ask them?), Sheriff Knezovich, who was dressed in a suit with his badge on the lapel, believes that isn’t the point. “Many, many of the active shooter type situations that happen in this nation have been stopped by off duty police officers carrying their weapons,” he told KHQ radio.
