With President Barack Obama vowing to impose additional gun controls this week through unilateral executive action that sidesteps the legislative process and subverts the will of the people, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott challenged President Obama to “come and take” Texans’ firearms away.

Taking to Twitter, the Texas governor tweeted: “Obama wants to impose more gun control. My response.#? COME & TAKE IT.” Abbott’s tweet named the NRA and pictured the historic “COME AND TAKE IT” flag from the Battle of Gonzales, which started the Texas Revolution after Mexican authorities tried to seize a cannon from Texian settlers who refused to give it up.
