A robbery suspect was shot multiple times by his intended victim Tuesday night.

According to police, a Beaumont, Texas, man called 911 around 9:42 p.m. reporting that he was walking through a parking lot to his car when a man confronted him, and that he defended himself by firing multiple rounds at the suspect. When officers arrived, they found a 35-year-old man on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

The wounded suspect was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police say the vehicle the suspect arrived in just before committing the robbery, a silver Dodge truck, was discovered to be stolen from Westlake, La. Both guns were seized as evidence, and no charges have been filed.
