Nicholas Elms, 26, and Brandon Pomranky, 27, were unloading property at JMR Storage when they noticed the driver of a red car rev the engine and drive around to the other side of the units. Elms and Pomranky heard the car strike the building before the driver exited the vehicle and ran to the front of the building. The driver, who was nude and acting erratically, then jumped into the driver’s seat of Pomranky’s truck. Elms attempted to physically remove the suspect, while Pomranky retrieved a handgun. The naked man ran back to his own vehicle and drove into Pomranky’s truck. Pomranky fired a single round at the suspect, causing the nude man to flee. Police found the intoxicated suspect a short distance away with a gunshot wound to the leg. No other injuries were reported. (The Batesville Daily Guard, Batesville, AR, 7/28/14)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
A 45-year-old woman and her 42-year-old boyfriend were asleep at the boyfriend’s River Ridge, La., home when the woman’s ex-boyfriend barged into the room brandishing a firearm. The assailant ordered the woman out of bed at gunpoint and started leading her to the front door. While the outlaw’s attention was turned, the boyfriend was able to grab a shotgun and fire at least two rounds at the intruder—at least one of which connected. The interloper was able to return fire briefly, striking the boyfriend in the arm, before he collapsed just inside the residence’s door. The attacker was pronounced dead at the scene. The boyfriend’s wound is not believed to be life-threatening. (The Times-Picayune, New Orleans, LA, 12/15/14)

February 1978:
Two youths entered John Loeffler’s South Lake Tahoe, Calif., drugstore, brandished a pistol and demanded drugs and cash. Loeffler filled a pillowcase with prescription narcotics. Then as he handed it to the armed member of the pair, he grabbed the bandit’s gun. Loeffler and the robber fought until Loeffler was able to get his own gun and shoot one of his assailants in the leg. He then held both the would-be crooks until the police arrived and took them into custody. (The Daily Tribune, South Lake Tahoe, CA)
