At a campaign rally over the weekend, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump charged Hillary Clinton with “wanting to take your guns away,” as well as intending to “abolish the Second Amendment.”
In regards to gun control, Clinton has said District of Columbia v. Heller, which overturned the Washington, D.C., handgun ban in 2008, was a mistake by the Supreme Court. She has also shown strong support for expanding gun purchase background checks, as well as restoring the “assault weapons” ban of 1994.
In contrast, a recent campaign position paper quoted Trump as saying, “Law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. The government has no business dictating what types of firearms good, honest people are allowed to own.”
