W.V. Self-Defense Bills On The Move

posted on March 24, 2017

West Virginia lawmakers will be considering two important pro-gun bills this week that were recently passed in committee.

Senate Bill 388, which would allow law-abiding citizens in possession of a concealed firearm to transport the gun onto school property while dropping off or picking up students, as long as the firearm does not leave the vehicle, will be considered by the full Senate. Meanwhile, House members will consider House Bill 2679, which would allow a law-abiding person to carry a firearm in any state, county or municipal park or other recreation area. This legislation would remove the ability for park commissions to prohibit carrying in parks by rules or ordinance.

As NRA-ILA pointed out, law-abiding West Virginia gun owners who choose to carry a concealed handgun in a park should not need to worry about a confusing patchwork of firearm regulations throughout the state.
