Late Thursday afternoon, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice signed two critical pro-gun bills into law.
The first, House Bill 2679, allows law-abiding citizens to carry a gun in any state, county or municipal park, and expands the list of other recreational areas in which carry is allowed. In addition to removing the park commission’s ability to ban carry, the measure also expands Sunday hunting opportunities on private land.
Senate Bill 388 permits the CCP holders to bring a firearm onto school property while dropping off or picking up students, as long as the gun remains in the car. Previous law had prevented concealed carry on school campuses. In addition to these two bills, Justice also recently signed a crucial piece of pro-hunting legislation, as well as another bill that protected sport shooting ranges from trivial lawsuits and noise complaints.
