A store clerk was closing his Sherman, Texas, mom-and-pop grocery store Wednesday night, after having forcibly removed a disorderly customer earlier in the day. Walking to his car, he heard someone yelling, and turned to see the same disruptive customer pulling something from his waistband.
Thinking the attacker had a gun, the clerk ran down an alleyway, where he could see the suspect was charging at him with a machete. The clerk had time to pull his gun and shoot the attacker, stopping him in his tracks. The victim then returned to the store and called police, telling dispatchers the suspect had fled on foot.
Almost immediately, a nearby apartment resident called requesting an ambulance for a man with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The suspect faces charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but due to his medical condition no arrest has been made.
Readers Abandon Anti-Gun New York Daily News
Circulation numbers released this week spell bad news for the New York Daily News: Readership was down 11.2 percent in September, compared to just 6.8 percent and 5.5 percent for competitors The New York Post and The New York Times, respectively. Circulation via the News’ mobile app was down a whopping 29.5 percent.
The Daily News has been on an anti-gun crusade, featuring hysterical anti-gun cover stories with headlines like “GOD ISN’T FIXING THIS,” and “NRA’S SICK JIHAD,” and calling NRA EVP Wayne LaPierre “JIHADI WAYNE.” Editor-in-chief Jim Rich made sensational headlines challenging LaPierre to answer the paper’s calls, saying there was “nowhere to hide.”
However, it was Rich who got the ax: He was replaced in October, after about a year at the helm. While the Daily News is up for sale, LaPierre remains as NRA’s leader, having led the civil rights organization through its most successful election season ever.
Nowhere to hide from the facts, Mr. Rich.
People Editorial Director Proud To Be Anti-Gun Spokesman
Speaking of media bias, when so-called “mainstream” media become proud of their lack of objectivity concerning important issues instead of being ashamed, it’s a sad day for the United States of America.
Such is the case with People magazine and its editorial director, Jess Cagle, who recently received a “prestigious” award from the gun-ban advocates at the Brady Campaign, formerly known as Handgun Control Inc. People even posted a story bragging on Cagle’s “honor.”
“Jess Cagle is extraordinarily deserving of this honor,” said Brady Center president Dan Gross. “We need to make this a defining issue in popular culture and show that there are voices coming from all corners of society. Nobody embodies that more than Jess Cagle and the work that People magazine has done.”
In truth, Cagle should be ashamed to masquerade as a journalist while actually being a flack for the gun control movement.
Terror Attacks On The Rise In 2015
Gun-ban advocates like to scoff at the thought that armed citizens might be a deterrent to so-called lone wolf terror attacks. And they like to quote studies of how low the chances of being in a terror attack actually are, ignoring the fact that such statistics do little to help victims of those attacks.
Now, Bloomberg.com is reporting that terror attacks in wealthy nations in 2015 were at an all-time high.
“The world’s wealthiest nations experienced the worst year in over a decade for terrorist attacks and deaths in 2015,” the story stated. “Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development countries suffered 731 attacks, a 23 percent increase from its previous high in 2004, after a steady rise over the past six years, according a new report by the Institute for Economics and Peace, which has been collecting data since 1997.”
Anti-gunners can scoff all they want, but with terror attacks on the rise, the argument for legal concealed carry grows even stronger.
Cry-Bully Maddow Whines That NRA Continues Fight For Freedom
On Wednesday, just a week after her tearful election night meltdown, Rachel Maddow used her MSNBC show to badger NRA executives for doing exactly what the group’s members pay them to do—protect the Second Amendment.
First, she aired a clip of Wayne LaPierre’s 2016 NRA-ILA Leadership Forum speech. “Hillary Clinton is coming for your guns and she will leave you all defenseless! Oh, my God!” Maddow said mockingly. She then played a portion of the NRA’s recently released video message, “Our Time is Now,” in which LaPierre addresses the outcome of the election, warns of the “very real challenges members face” and urges members to maintain the same sense of urgency moving forward.
Maddow’s rant was actually just the thing to make any NRA member proud of the organization—and its continued resolve to protect the Second Amendment. The fact that Maddow can’t see that speaks for itself.
