Indiana Homeowner Fights Off Robbers

An Indianapolis homeowner on Friday morning opened fire on three people who were were trying to break into his home, sending two to a nearby hospital.

According local media reports, Indianapolis police said someone inside the home heard a knock at the door and didn't answer. Three people then tried kicking in the door, prompting the homeowner to shoot.

“If you're in the business of committing crimes, you may choose that house where the homeowner is armed behind that door,” Major Richard Riddle, with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, told CBS4Indy.com. “A homeowner in certain incidents has the right to defend their castle in the state of Indiana.”

Police continue to search for the third suspect, who was not shot.
