Democrat vice-presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine says he supports expanding federal background checks on firearm purchasers, WTOP reports, although their story doesn’t touch upon the additional anti-gun policies—from outright gun bans, to magazine size restrictions, to holding firearm dealers liable for the actions of criminals—that Kaine also has advanced over the years.

This is likely a result of the Clinton campaign’s efforts to “rebrand” gun control as “gun safety,” and to cloak Clinton’s plans with focus group-tested sound bites and anodyne euphemisms—such as “preventing gun violence”—rather than a reflection of the candidate’s true aims.

In any event, with the U.S. Supreme Court now split 4-to-4 on gun rights, and with Hillary Clinton ranting that the Court was “wrong” to rule that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to have a gun in the home for self-defense, it’s clear your right to keep and bear arms is up for a yes-or-no vote this year.
