Colorado: Bill To Reverse Magazine Ban Introduced In Senate

posted on January 17, 2017

A bill designed to repeal Colorado’s ban on magazines holding more than 15 rounds or featuring a removable floorplate has been introduced in the state Senate.

The ban, passed in 2013, was opposed by both the law enforcement community, who called the measure “unenforceable,” and law-abiding Colorado gun owners, who owned an estimated 300,000 such magazines. However, an influx of money and influence from out-of-state interests—including former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg—overwhelmed the heavy opposition from constituents and helped propel the measure through the House and Senate by razor-thin margins before being signed by Governor John Hickenlooper.
