With many in the so-called “mainstream” media continuing to rail that Congress is trying to arm the mentally ill, the ACLU—no friend to gun owners over the years—took to USA Today on Tuesday to rebut those lying about the rollback of the Obama SSA gun ban.

“The American Civil Liberties Union does not oppose gun control laws,” wrote ACLU’s Vania Leveille, senior legislative counsel, and Susan Mizner, disability counsel. “But gun control laws, like any law, should be fair, effective and not based on prejudice or stereotype. This rule met none of those criteria.

“We opposed it because it would do little to stem gun violence but do much to harm our civil rights.”

We have repeatedly said the same thing over the past several weeks. Perhaps the media will be more likely to believe ACLU, who typically sides with gun-banners on such issues.
