Georgia Homeowner Fatally Shoots Invader Who Had Just Robbed A Store

posted on May 26, 2017

Stockbridge, Ga., police on Tuesday went chasing after a man who had just robbed a Dollar General Store, and who had fled by jumping into an accomplice’s truck.

Robert MacDonald, 26, held a knife on a Dollar General employee while taking money, then fled. When officers tracked down the escape vehicle, the suspect jumped from the truck bed and ran. Unfortunately for the robber, a homeowner—who had a gun—found him first.

While officers were in pursuit of the robber, police were called to a nearby home invasion with a suspect matching MacDonald’s description. The homeowner told WTOC-TV he heard breaking glass, then someone entering the home. After he was discovered by the homeowner, MacDonald approached in a menacing manner, so the resident drew his gun and yelled. That caused the homeowner’s father to come down the stairs with his own firearm, and he shot MacDonald in the chest, killing him.
