Finding a shooting range in California is already a lot harder than in most other areas of the country. And the problem may soon get a lot worse, as the Cordova Recreation and Parks District (CRPD) administrators, who manage the land the 73-acre Cordova Shooting Center occupies, have recommended closure of the range.

With the growth of housing and shopping developments near the range, “We do need to consider the biggest bang for our buck …” District Administrator Patrick Larkin told KCRA. That’s an odd choice of words, however, since with 30,000 customers visiting the Rancho Cordova, Calif., range annually—leading to $183,000 in revenue generated for the CRPD—there seems to be more “bang” and more “bucks” in keeping the range open.

Use Your Power!

Fewer places to shoot mean fewer new shooters—leading to a weaker shooting culture and fewer pro-gun advocates in a state in dire need of both. California residents are strongly encouraged to attend a hearing scheduled for Monday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rancho Cordova City Hall American Room. Also, contact the CRPD directors now and urge them to keep CSC open. Learn more by clicking here.
