Three suspected armed robbers in North Carolina might have been angry that Santa Claus left them a lump of coal, because they decided to go make their Christmas merry themselves by trying to get the cash from a convenience store.
Apparently, they didn’t count on the possibility that one of the customers was carrying. Now they’re paying for their misperception.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call after shots were fired at a Stop and Shop convenience store.
The two suspects who entered the store held the clerk and others at gunpoint while demanding the money. But an armed citizen was having none of that.
Fearing that the clerk or some other bystander might well be shot after the money was handed over, the citizen shot the two masked men.
They fled bleeding and hopped into a getaway car with a driver at the wheel.
Police so far have arrested one of the three conspirators and are searching for the other two.
