In conjunction with August being National Shooting Sports Month, Hornady will be giving people a chance to get a hands-on introduction to shooting.

Hornady is sponsoring the “Heartland First Shots” event today in Nebraska. Attendees who are at least 16 years old will be able to shoot firearms at five shooting stations offering a mix of guns, from handguns to shotguns and rifles.

The five stages will provide the ability to shoot .17 HMR, .22 Long Rifle and .223 Rem. rounds from rifles. Participants will also get to fire 9 mm ammunition from handguns and 12-ga. shells for shotguns. Each firing station will be manned by a qualified safety officer.

The event will go from 9 a.m. to noon at the Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island, Neb., where Hornady is based.
