If it seems like you’ve read that headline or a similar one recently, you’re not going crazy. We’ve written it before as we’ve highlighted this trend that won’t stop; no doubt, we will do so here again in the future.

According to new data from the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), this past July was the second-highest July on record for the number of background checks conducted in the sale of a firearm.

It should also be noted that this past July’s figure of nearly 1.3 million background checks conducted via the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is only overshadowed by the record-breaking number of 1.8 conducted in July of last year. Last year was also record shattering.

As this was being written, more than 11 million background checks have been conducted for the purchase of a firearm in 2021 and this past July marks 16 straight months, incredibly, of elevated firearms sales throughout the nation.

The NSSF-adjusted numbers are the result of taking the FBI’s raw number of background checks conducted via NICS and removing those unlikely to be used in the purchase of a firearm; they do this to more accurately represent the number of Americans purchasing firearms.

A1F.com has often noted the factors contributing to this unabating trend. From President Joe Biden’s (D) increasingly alarming statements about his anti-gun intentions to his troubling nominees to head various federal departments and more.

Most troubling, though, is that Biden blames gun owners and stores for a recent rise in violent crime; he actually seems to think law-abiding Americans are the cause of violent crime.

When elected officials, such as Biden, routinely choose to demonize Americans that lawfully exercise their Second Amendment rights, you can expect that those same Americans will continue to vote with their wallets on these crucial matters of American freedom.
