In the latest instance of Hollywood elites lecturing the rest of us, “The View” co-host Joy Behar just advocated for “tweaking” the Second Amendments because the Founding Fathers didn’t have AR-15s.

“When the Founding Fathers were busy with the amendments, the First and Second Amendments did not have AR-15s in there, weapons of war, and they didn’t have Twitter. So both amendments, I think they need to be tweaked a little bit,” said Behar.

While it’s true that AR-15s didn’t exist at the time of the ratification of the U.S. Bill of Rights, civilians did, in fact, have firearms with the best technology then available. Many of the guns used by the Colonists in the Revolutionary War were similar to those of the British infantry, and some had firearms that were much more accurate.

This isn’t the first time Behar has made outlandish claims about the Second Amendment, either. Earlier this year, she said President Joe Biden’s (D) gun-control agenda is too lenient and implored congress to push through other gun-control bills. Her statements came after Biden claimed, “Nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment,” a statement we’ve already debunked here at A1F.com.

Behar also tellingly admitted in the same interview that she has “never actually seen a real gun.” So she is willfully ignorant, but still wants to tell the rest of us what we can do with a  constitutional right.

If she truly understood what it’s like to (literally) grasp this right, perhaps she wouldn’t have advocated for Beto O’Rourke to “not tell” Americans that he plans to take their guns should he get elected. “If you’re going to take people’s guns away, wait until you get elected, then take the guns away. Don’t tell them ahead of time,” said Behar.

Like O’Rourke—who has made numerous false claims about our rights—Behar doesn’t understand or appreciate the protections enshrined in the Second Amendment for people who can’t afford private security. Instead, she preaches from her Hollywood podium.
