Administration Might Ease Firearm Export Rules

posted on September 21, 2017

According to a report by Reuters, the Trump administration is considering easing regulations that make it difficult for American gun makers to sell firearms to foreign buyers.

The Reuters report says that President Donald Trump’s aides are working on a plan to shift oversight of international non-military firearm sales to the Commerce Department. Such sales are currently under the auspices of the State Department.

“The officials from multiple agencies, speaking on condition of anonymity, say the new rules will cut government red tape and regulatory costs, boosting U.S. exports of small arms and creating jobs at home,” the report stated.
