And The Death Spiral Continues

An element of comedy strikes us in the continuing death spiral of big media: The same rats jump to new or different ships, but seem hell-bent to act just the same.

In other words, overstate and vilify with impunity, as long as your targets—so to speak—are gun owners of conservative stripe. Witness this mess from Vocativ. Complete with trash-mouth quotes, “F___ that”, and “S___ this”—which have become the apparent touchstone of progressive authenticity—it’s lubricated with the cognitive dissonance we’ve come to know so well, if not exactly to love.

The humor (admittedly jaundiced) is inherent to the topic: “Gun Lovers No One Talks About.” You guessed it, probably—that rarer than a hen’s tooth far-left MSR (AR) owner. Evidently, some extreme liberals are finally waking up to the notion that meaningful liberty includes meaningful self-defense, and that screaming, “Why can’t we all just get along?”—however loudly—won’t get the job done.

But if it gets these folks to the range, we’re good: Sooner or later, their daft preconceptions (and misconceptions) of mainstream, American, NRA-style gun ownership will collapse. In the meantime, be kind.
