Anti-Gun Dealer Measure To Be Considered In Illinois House

posted on May 5, 2017

We’ve been keeping you updated on a dangerous anti-gun bill in the Illinois legislature that could force the closure of many gun dealers in the state.

Now, the measure could soon be heard in the Illinois House of Representatives.

In a nutshell, SB 1657 would create onerous mandatory regulations; institute a combination of fees potentially in the thousands of dollars and excessive amounts of red tape that would almost assuredly force the closure of many firearm dealers; and prevent prospective owners from opening new ones.

“While the purported intent of this legislation was to enhance ‘responsible business practices,’ this proposed legislation only proves that the intention is to close as many federally licensed firearm dealers (FFLs) as possible,” stated an ILA legislative update.
