Six adults and several children were gathered in a Newton County, Ga., apartment early Friday morning when one of the women decided to step outside. Soon after she entered the complex breezeway, she was shoved back into the residence by 30-year-old Quintavious Reed. Reed followed her inside, pulled a gun and attempted to rob the residents. After an altercation broke out between Reed and one of the men inside the apartment, the man pulled out his own gun and fired at Reed, fatally wounding him.

The incident remains under investigation, but according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Dept., no arrests have been made and the case is being treated as lawful self-defense.
