Armed Citizen Rescues Woman From Attempted Murder

posted on August 3, 2015

She had been stabbed in the abdomen. Now her estranged husband, who was drunk and enraged, had his arm around her neck and was threatening to slit her throat. Fearing it was the end, she uttered her final prayers. Those prayers were quickly answered as an armed citizen came to the rescue.

It happened around 6 p.m. in Boulder, Colo., in a parking lot of the Sacred Heart of Jesus church. A church employee was walking to his car and witnessed the whole confrontation. He also recognized the woman as a regular parishioner. When the legal concealed handgun carrier pulled out his gun and demanded the attempted murderer leave her alone, the suspect fled.

Heriberto Haro-Luna was later captured and arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and felony menacing. The victim, who sustained serious stab wounds, was rushed to the hospital and was doing well post-surgery.
