An armed citizen stopped an armed robbery at a Detroit convenience store earlier this week, possibly saving the life of the store clerk in the process.

According to local police, a robber armed with a knife had grabbed a female store clerk, threatened to kill her, grabbed some items and forced her to leave the scene with him. As they exited the store, a customer determined the store was being robbed and retrieved his handgun from his vehicle, confronted the robber and fired several shots, striking him once in the torso.

The robber later died of the wound. No charges are expected against the armed citizen who saved the clerk.
