A horrifying predicament for a woman in Altoona, Penn., came to an end thanks to the intervention of a bystander. Henry Clinton Yancy Jr., the woman’s ex-boyfriend, is accused of taking her hostage and subjecting her to physical abuse for 20 hours. In between the beatings administered, he allegedly stabbed her in the leg and announced his intention to kill her eventually. She finally escaped the residence around 10 in the morning, but a nude Yancy chased her and began attacking her again.

At this point an armed neighbor, who heard the commotion and had gone outside, stepped in. He held Yancy at gunpoint until police arrived, while other neighbors reportedly provided first aid to the victim. This armed citizen is to be thanked for ending the woman’s ordeal and likely saving her life.
