An Arkansas man armed with a handgun used it to save himself and a woman during a home invasion in Faulkner County, Ark., last week.

According to police, the 42-year-old female homeowner told police she was sleeping when someone broke out a bedroom window and entered the home. The assailant reportedly shoved her on the bed and picked up a shotgun that was in the corner of the room.

The intruder then went to the living room and put a knife to the throat of a 70-year-old man who was sleeping on the couch before heading back to the bedroom. That’s when the senior citizen grabbed his handgun, went to the bedroom and fired one shot at the suspect, who was arrested later while seeking treatment for a gunshot wound at a nearby emergency room.
