Armed Florida Homeowner Fights Off Invaders

posted on December 13, 2016

When an unknown woman rang the bell and knocked on the door of a Florida home, the homeowner decided not to answer, prompting the woman to drive away. But what was initially strange turned sinister when the woman immediately returned, aggressively knocking again. Then there was a sudden noise from the back of the house. That’s when the homeowner grabbed his gun.

Winter Garden police say the homeowner encountered a man wearing all black and a ski mask entering the house through a smashed patio door. The terrified homeowner acted instinctively and shot the intruder, who escaped and drove off with the woman.

“He had a masked person at the back door … and then someone beating at the front door,” police Lt. Scott Allen told WKMG News 6. “He was in fear for his life and thought that was his best option.” A neighbor added, “The burglars probably thought no one was home, so that's kind of scary.”
