A Texas man used his legally carried concealed handgun to protect himself and his son from an armed robber who accosted them in the drive-thru at a League City, Texas, McDonalds.

According to local law enforcement sources, the robber approached the man while he and his young son were in his pickup truck in the drive-thru about 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon and pointed a gun at him. After a brief struggle, the father pulled his own gun and shot his assailant.

“He’s thankful he’s alive and that his son’s alive,” the father’s attorney told ABC13 later that evening. “I think he would want other citizens to know they have a right to protect themselves. You have to be cautious all the time, wherever you are.”
