When two men, one armed with a handgun, invaded a home in Lamar County, Texas, around 2 a.m. Friday morning, they probably didn’t expect the victims to be awake. But awake they were, and fight back they did.

“The victims started struggling with the first person that came in the door with the gun,” Lamar County Chief Deputy Jeff Springer told KXII-TV. “That person dropped the gun, and one of the victims picked up the gun and ordered them to get out of the house, and they wouldn't do it.”

That’s when one of the victims fired a shot at the home invaders, striking one and causing all three to flee. The injured suspect was found deceased in the road in front of the house, and police arrested a second suspect a short time later. The getaway driver remains at large.
